Mindful Beauty: How to look and feel great in every season

28.11.16

We all need a bit of mindfulness in this hectic holiday season. Extra Christmas shopping, food prep panic and keeping friends and family happy all takes its toll. If you need a bit of calm then I recommend checking out Estelle Lefébure's new book, Mindful Beauty.

In this book, fifty-year-old model Estelle Lefébure divulges how they really maintain their fantastic natural looks. Her positive outlook inspires, and she offers a simple, enjoyable path to well-being and looking fabulous forever. Her holistic and mindful philosophy encompasses step-by-step fitness, wellness, nutrition, and natural beauty practices for every season.

And this book isn't just relevant for the December festive season. In the springtime, invigorate dry skin with a DIY body scrub while toning-up for outdoor activities. Go green once a week with a vegetable stock detox. When summer arrives, protect skin and hair with nourishing homemade masks. A glorious Indian summer is the perfect time to think about transformations; slow down and try out her massage techniques. Once autumn settles in, focus on breathing—sip Provence-inspired infusions of sunbaked thyme to open up your airways. Each chapter offers tips for beauty, nutrition, and fitness activities as well as natural remedies and gluten-free recipes from top French chefs to guide you throughout the year. I'm looking forward to trying out the water infusions, veggie curry and sweet snowballs!

Make sure you pop a copy of Mindful Beauty into your basket whilst you're doing the Christmas shopping!

Thanks to Flammarion for sending me a copy of Mindful Beauty to check out.

#HandsonFashion: Crabtree & Evelyn x Fashion Scout

12.9.16

London Fashion Week doesn't just take a toll on your feet- what about your poor hands?! Thankfully Crabtree & Evelyn is on hand and has teamed up with Fashion Scout SS17 to be the official skincare partner.

From 16th – 20th September over 10,000 glamorous fashionistas are expected to gather in Central London to watch some of the world’s best off schedule designers, such as Pam Hogg, David Ferreira and Ashley Isham, showcase their latest SS17 collections.

That means that for 120 hours, the streets of London will come alive with fashion buyers and aficionados, racing from show to show to report on the latest trends and gossip from the FROW as they unfold, so is it any wonder that these enthusiasts go into digital over-drive for five days?

Based at Fashion Scout, Freemasons’ Hall, Crabtree & Evelyn’s #HandsOnFashion Botanical Emporium is here to make those ordinary moments, extraordinary. Offering fashionistas a complimentary rejuvenating hand massage with one of their iconic intensive conditioning Hand Therapy creams, it provides a mini sanctuary to escape the hustle and bustle between shows.

Guests will be encouraged to immerse themselves into a therapeutic botanical wonderland and explore the naturally beautiful world of the floral photo booth and living wall. By simply uploading a selfie or boomerang, in front of the floral wall, to Instagram and tagging and following @CrabtreeUK, guests will receive a limited edition #HandsOnFashion tote bag to carry round all their fashion week goodies.

Crabtree & Evelyn will also launch a special #HandsOnFashion Snapchat geofilter for London Fashion Week, allowing enthusiasts and opportunity to exclusively use the filter whilst snapping.

The #HandsOnFashion Emporium runs from Friday 16th September- Tuesday 20th September 10am-7pm. No booking is required.

Whilst I won't be in town for LFW I'll be treating myself to a Crabtree & Evelyn experience with the Hands Therapy treatment and some sweet smelling hand cream!

The best essie colors

12.8.15

Naked nails are not my thing! I love wearing nail polish and experimenting with lots of different colors and styles whatever the season!

essie is my favorite nail polish brand- the colors are amazing and the quality of the polish stands out from others that I have tried. I'll usually wear the brighter colors on my toes, and will alternate between pinks, greys and dark purples or blues on my fingers.

Here are my favorite essie colors:

Tour de finance: a great fuschia shade with a hint of shimmer!

Under where: a lovely orchid color perfect for spring and summer!

After school boy blazer: the perfect navy blue shade

Tuck it in my tux: when I'm after a neutral mani, this is the shade I turn to.

Fragrance Fun with Memo Paris

3.6.15

A daily spritz of perfume is a necessary luxury for me. I have certain favourites which I will never part with, but the fun side of me loves to try out new fragrances and brands.

Memo Paris launched in 2007, the brainchild of Clara and John Molloy. They both saw fragrance as a means of taking a magical journey, with the bottle as a destination. The name 'Memo' stands for memory, giving the fragrances a direct link with the state of reminiscence and sensitivity that we all experience when we travel.

Memo's perfumer is Alienor Massenet, the brains and nose behind some of the world's best known fragrances including Tresor in Love by Lancome and Antidote by Victor&Rolf.

Memo sent me a gorgeous discovery set of fragrances to try, and from the packaging to the aroma it didn't disappoint! Inside the set I was treated to:

  • Jannat: the wild flowers of paradise. (Oil of Tunisian lemon, frangipani blossom, tonka Bean Absolute)
  • Sundance: a spicy tuberose underlined by pear. (Pear Accord, tuberose absolute, Iris concrete.)
  • Inle: an osmanthus submerged in a cloud of tea. (Osmanthus absolute, jasmine samba, mate absolute.)
  • Siwa: vanilla revealed by a cereal. (Oil of cinnamon leaf, French narcissis absolute, vanilla absolute.)
  • Irish Leather: wind of leather. (Juniper berry, green mate absolute, leather.)
  • Moon Fever: the leather side of vetiver. (Oil of grapefruit, oil of vetiver, leather accord.)
  • Kedu: open sesame. (Oil of grapefruit, sesame absolute, white musk.)
  • Granada: song of the Andalusian jasmine. (Pomegranate, orange blossom absolute, jasmine sambac absolute.)
Memo is a fragrance experience like no other and it lives up to the tagline: "Fragrance is a souvenir, Memo is its memory."

*I was sent a discovery set by Memo Paris to try. All opinions are my own.*

Tips for short haul trip packing

20.5.15

I regularly travel on long haul journeys so this week's short haul trip to Edinburgh feels like luxury!

Having just returned from a long journey, packing a suitcase is the last thing that I want to do. For long haul journeys I've got the suitcase and the routine down to a fine art, so packing for less than five days is feeling like a bit of a challenge! I'm not a girl who travels lightly, so the thought of taking the bare minimum is causing quite a panic.

Here's what my short trip haul is looking like so far:

Bag

My large L.L. Bean tote (complete with monogram!) is a serious contender for all my essentials. It's strong, durable and incredibly roomy.

Shoes

I usually travel with five pairs of shoes.... so this trip I am aiming for three. My New Balance x Bergdorf Goodman sneakers will be on my feet when I travel and for exploring the city. They are the most comfortable sneakers EVER! I'll pack my pair of Chanel ballet flats for the daytime events when I need to be a bit dressy, and my J.Crew leopard wedges for nighttime fun!

Clothes

Here's where the dilemma begins... what's the weather going to be like? I've been advised to take a coat with me, so I'll be taking my trusty Barbour jacket which has literally travelled the world with me.

A pair of black jeans and x2 black pants will be perfect to mix and match for travelling and for each day, and I'll throw in a super light asymmetrical linen black jacket for hopping between lunches, meetings and sightseeing.

My stash of trusty striped Breton tees in every color scheme imaginable will also be making an appearance, as will some cute lace tops in black and white for the evenings. Simple is best!

I'll also throw in a few favourite pieces of knitwear that I can mix and match, and two neutral scarves depending on what top I'll be wearing.

Accessories

I'll take my most personal of jewels as well as this fun necklace from Knotty Gal for nighttime fun! I'll also be using my Chanel bag in the evenings and for when I don't need to carry my large Longchamp tote.

Beauty

This is one area that I excel at. I've amassed quite a collection of travel sized toiletries for my various trips, and my washbag has to be one of the most organised I've ever seen! I have travel sized versions of my favourite make-up items, and just pack my regular brushes to make sure something stays the same!

Other Essentials

Work won't stop for me- I'll be taking my MacBook, various chargers as well as my Nikon for those essential sightseeing snaps.

How do you pack for a short-haul trip? Does the dreaded baggage allowance stress you out? Share your tips with me in the comments!

Pulleez: Making Ponytails Pretty

13.5.15

I don't know about you, but if I need to tie back my hair, I usually grab the first hair elastic I can find. They're likely to be purchased from the drugstore and not particularly fancy. So, what about when you want your ponytail to be functional and pretty?

Enter Pulleez! Diana Wright originally created Pulleez out of necessity; she needed a ponytail accessory to use on models backstage that would easily hold hair without leaving behind the dreaded crease that comes from twisting an elastic band in the hair multiple times.

Pulleez became an instant hit backstage and they were soon spotted on the runway. In her “real job” as a mom of four, Diana soon found herself wearing Pulleez in her daily life and sharing them with her friends. She quickly realized that that all women, not just models, deserved a luxury ponytail accessory that was simple to use and gentle on the hair.

My ponytails have certainly become more sophisticated since I started wearing Pulleez - plus my hair no longer has that awful crease that normal hair ties leave.

Pulleez hair ties come in a variety of affordable styles and designs- give a girl the right accessories and she can conquer the world!

*I was sent a selection of Pulleez products to try- all opinions are my own.*
