Paperless Post Picks: My favourite thank you cards

22.8.18

The secret is out - I am a stationery buff! From pens to cards, notebooks to stickers, there is nothing better than September when back to school stationery hits the shelves.

And my love of stationery also stretches to online, and in particular to Paperless Post. There's nothing better than a thank you card, and for times when I need to send one quick, I turn to Paperless Post to send one.

From Kate Spade to Mr Boddington, there are many cute and quirky designs guaranteed to put a smile on the face of the recipient. Here are just some of my favourite thank you cards!

Get the look: Theresa May's oversized necklaces

5.6.18

Oversized necklaces are one of Theresa May's signature accessories. Whether it's a classic silver or rose gold chain or a more modern plastic piece, the PM knows how to rock a statement necklace and jazz up her workwear uniform.

There's plenty of awesome oversized necklaces around, and here's how you can get the look!

Jaegar: this chunky necklace has interlocking links cut from Italian resin and finished with mosaic effect. It would look great with a simple suit and a white shirt.

Kate Spade: this simple gold disc necklace is a new take on the chunky chain - and it's on sale too!

Oscar de la Renta: invest in this piece for a snazzy evening look. The PM has some fabulous sparkly necklaces that she wears for black tie and cocktail events.

M&S: this is a real statement piece! And easy on the purse too.

and for those exact matches..

Caroline Thomson: whilst not a chunky chain, the PM owns several artisan necklaces from local designer, Caroline Thomson. The swirl pendant is just one of them!

Mirta Bijoux: one of the most boldest pieces in May's wardrobe, these plastic oversized bead necklaces come in a rainbow of colours! The PM has them in blue, black and silver.

Amanda Wakeley: the original and (the best) chunky chain necklace is a regular feature in May's wardrobe. She also recently introduced this rose gold version threaded with black grosgrain ribbon to her mix of accessories!

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: fashion icon?

29.6.16

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is pretty hilarious. The second season has just debuted on Netflix and I binge watched it all in about two days!

Aside from the funniest jokes, gags and witty dialogue, I found myself wanting to inject lots of colour into my wardrobe- and it is all thanks to Kimmy! My wardrobe is one of classic pieces and I stick to the basics. Black, white, grey and the humble striped tee shirt are all living in my closet, and if you did a quick poll amongst my friends, they probably wouldn't be able to tell you when I wore something that wasn't outside these hues.

So Kimmy, what have you done! I want to buy brightly coloured jeans, tee shirts with pattern and flashing sneakers. I want to embrace the fun fashion of the 90s, and go all out some sparkle.

Kimmy's often eccentric wardrobe choices can be attributed to her escape from the bunker, the confines of her regimented life stripped away in favour of a new and exciting life in glossy New York. Working for a high maintenance society girl has little influence on Kimmy's sartorial choices, and the character of Jacqueline also has an influence on the 'sensible' side of my fashion interests.

Kimmy's style can be found in shops like Uniqlo, Kate Spade and Coach - all realms where fashion and fun mix. We've seen flowers, birds and geometric shapes in all of these stores, and high end designers like Anya Hindmarch have also been quick to embrace the fun of patches and over the top keyrings in various past and present collections.

Netflix
Fashion is meant to be fun and used as a way to express character. Whilst I wouldn't meet a client with a pair of bright purple jeans, I will be having a little more fun in my everyday, off duty wardrobe. Thanks Kimmy!

Happy Weekend!

6.12.15

The weekend is finally here, and doesn't already feel like December is rushing by?! This week was my birthday, and as I write this post, I'm battling the season bug that is doing the rounds. Being sick as you turn another year older is not much fun! But I did have a rather ace ice cream cake that helped my poorly throat...

Here's what I've been reading this week.

Here's how to make something glorious of your life: the great journalist Sue Lloyd-Roberts passed away earlier this year. Anne Perkins analyses her life and legacy.

JK Rowling- 'Success never feels the way you think it will': when great things happen it's awesome, but I never think that success will feel the way that it actually does. JK Rowling shares my sentiments, and this interview is a great one to read when you need a boost!

How much would iconic holiday homes cost in real life?: let's just say, the homes from The Holiday and Miracle on 34th Street don't come cheap.

Here's what happens when you don't trust your gut: note to self, go with your instincts.

Kate Spade's phone charging purses: quite possibly the most handy accessory ever?!

Kate Spade Furniture Collection

26.10.15

Kate Spade is a go-to destination for many things, and now it seems we'll all be stopping there for furniture!

The brand has just released a collection of home furnishings, and available online, the pieces embody the label's chic and playful spirit. A mix of desk lamps, tables, slipper chairs and mirrors, the colour scheme and designs are quintessentially Kate Spade.

I'm pretty much in love with everything in the collection...now I just need the space to fill it with! Here are some of my fave pieces:

New York: My Trip in Photos

17.4.15

Earlier this week I was in NYC for meetings and a bit of fun! I was in DC for a week beforehand- you can check out my trip in photos here!

So, what did I get up to in the Big Apple?

I travelled from DC using the Acela Express. This is hands down the best train I have ever used. Fast journey, excellent service and so close to my hotel. The least stressful thing about my journey ever!

A standard photo of the ice rink at Rockefeller Center- it has to be done!

In the afternoon, I caught up with BBC America journalist Laura Trevelyan. Lots of fun!

A small trip to Brooklyn Heights reaped a big reward in the form of these stunning views of Lower Manhattan and then back towards Brooklyn Bridge and the Empire State Building in the distance.

In the evening I finally meet PR genius Matt Dillon!

After lots of sleep I headed to the Lareymondie showroom to meet creator Maylis and see the gorgeous collection for myself! (More on this special visit in an upcoming post!)

If you are looking for a quirky lunch spot then give the Crosby Street Hotel a try!

In the evening I had great fun catching up with friends Filomena and Cheryl at the amazing seventh floor restaurant at Bergdorf Goodman. Stunning views, delicious food and lots of laughs!

Also have to say big kudos to the lovely ladies at the Bobbi Brown counter at Bergdorfs- my make-up was out of this world and I wish I could do eyeliner as professionally as this!

On Saturday I had fun exploring around Midtown and the UES with lots of shopping thrown in for good measure!

In the evening I met with Annie and Rachel from Small Girls PR at The Standard! Lots of fun and a venue you must visit if you haven't already!

Sunday was a little calmer- I stopped by Ralph's for coffee and did some shopping at Kate Spade and Tory Burch before meeting my friend, Jennefer for brunch.

I love strolling around the UES- spring flowers were in full bloom, and I visited my favorite apartment building, 1040 Fifth Avenue. All in all, a pretty spectacular trip!
