Equality, LBC and Liverpool: Theresa May's week

Theresa May was in London and Liverpool this week, launching the review into race disparity in the UK and unveiling a memorial for a fallen police officer.


On Monday, the PM visited the Dunraven School in London, meeting with students and staff. May debuted a new custom black jacket from Daniel Blake- the military, long line tailoring is superb! She teamed it with black trousers and the Delicious leopard flats from Russell & Bromley. She teamed this great look with a string of pearls. Later in the day, May answered questions about Brexit in the House.


On Tuesday, Theresa May launched the Race Disparity Audit at Downing Street. You can read the report and its findings here. Later in the day, she participated in a live phone in on LBC. The PM debuted a new dress (we're still on the hunt!) teaming it with a crisp white Peserico blazer and an oversized grey fabric necklace and matching bracelet.


On Wednesday, the PM took part in Prime Minister's Questions, wearing an old faithful steel grey Vivienne Westwood trouser suit. Bubblegum pearls and the LK Bennett leopard kitten heels completed this look.

On Thursday, Theresa May travelled to Liverpool, visiting the Royal Liverpool Hospital's Transplant Unit. She also attended a ceremony unveiling a memorial to PC Dave Phillips in Birkenhead before attending some party events.



May wore her new black and white colourblock skirt suit from Escada. Eagle eyed fans of Scandal may recognise it straight from Olivia Pope's wardrobe. The PM teamed this power look with her embroidered Issa x LK Bennett kitten heels and pearls.

Australia, Spain and Maidenhead: Theresa May's Week

The Prime Minister of Australia, the Spanish State Visit and visits in her constituency- here's a run down of Theresa May's week.



On Monday, Theresa May welcomed her Australian counterpart, Malcolm Turnbull to Number 10. The pair visited Borough Market as part of their visit, remembering the victims of the terrorist attack and meeting with survivors and traders.



They then held a press conference in Number 10. For this visit, the PM wore an Amanda Wakeley Aztec print dress, black tailored jacket, Amanda Wakeley oversized chain necklace and bracelet and the Divine flats from Russell & Bromley.





On Tuesday, Theresa May spoke at the Taylor Review of Modern Working Practices and at the FCO Leaders Conference. For these two events, the PM wore an Amanda Wakeley navy and sky blue coat over navy trousers and a white top. She accessorised with an oversized strand of pearls and the leopard Frame flats from Russell & Bromley.





On Wednesday, the Prime Minister was part of the welcoming party for the state visit of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain. Theresa May wore a navy Amanda Wakeley dress, white tailored jacket, nude leather wrist gloves, a selection of Swarovski Crystaldust bracelets and snakeskin kitten heels. Her hat was a custom design from Liz Felix Millinery.



In the evening, the PM attended the State Banquet at Buckingham Palace wearing a red stain gown, black heels and an Anya Hindmarch evening bag.


On Thursday, Theresa May welcomed King Felipe to Downing Street. She wore a red Amanda Wakeley dress in his honour, teaming it with a black tailored jacket, oversized pearls and the LK Bennett x Issa kitten heels.


In the evening, the PM attended the Spectator Summer Party in St James's Park.


On Friday, Theresa May was back in her Maidenhead constituency, attending the opening of the Sir Nicholas Winton Memorial. Here she wore black trousers, a black and white Amanda Wakeley jacket and the Charlize black loafers from Russell & Bromley.

Peston, Manifesto Launch and Edinburgh: Theresa May's Week

The campaigning continued this week as Theresa May travelled around the country as part of the fight for Downing Street.

On Monday, Theresa May visited Tech Pixies in Oxford, social enterprise foundation aiming to return mothers to work.





She then returned to London to take part in a live Facebook Q&A with ITV's Robert Peston and answer questions from viewers. It was pretty exciting to hear the Prime Minister answer my question about fashion!


For these two appearances, May wore black trousers, the Liberty tartan jacket from Vivienne Westwood and the leopard Cocktail loafers from Russell & Bromley.


On Tuesday, May headed to Stoke on Trent, visiting workers at a Screw Fix premises. May also visited a Birmingham school and took part in a live town hall phone in.



May wore the Samira blue wool jacket from DvF, teamed with a white shirt, black trousers and the Frame leopard flats from Russell & Bromley. She accessorised with an oversized plastic chain necklace and a plastic bangle.


On Wednesday, Theresa May held a press conference in London with Chancellor Philip Hammond. May wore a black skirt suit, silk shirt, oversized chain bracelet and necklace from Amanda Wakeley and the Issa x LK Bennett kitten heels.




Thursday was the big day- the launch of the Conservative Party manifesto. Held in Halifax, May wore our favourite navy round silk collar suit to the launch, accessorising with a string of pearls and the Twister gold block heels from Russell & Bromley. You can read the manifesto here.



May then visited the MBDA factory in Bolton.




On Friday, the Prime Minister as in Edinburgh for the launch of the Scottish Conservative manifesto. Her customary Blackwatch tartan jacket from Vivienne Westwood made a reappearance, along with a white shirt, black trousers and our new favourite plastic chain necklace. May's studded loafers from Russell & Bromley made a welcome return!



Later in the day, May visited Andrew Black Haulage.




And on Saturday, May was campaigning in her own constituency of Maidenhead before heading to Ealing and Acton to campaign with candidate Joy Morrissey. May wore a red dress, oatmeal jacket and leopard flats from Russell & Bromley for her visit to Ealing and Acton.

Theresa May A-Z: K is for Kitten Heels

Synonymous with her public image, Theresa May has an extensive collection of kitten heels. The first thing that many of us associate with the Prime Minister (and absolutely mentioned in every article about her,) kitten heels are a regular choice for May. You only have to trawl back through archive pictures to see what a fan she is- and how over time, her tastes in design have subtly changed.

Our favourite and most loved kitten heel has to be the leopard print pair she wore on her maiden speech as Prime Minister on the steps of Number 10. Purchased from LK Bennett, the heel has become synonymous with May’s chic sense of style, and in a recent school visit she named this pair as her absolute favourite. Great minds think alike!

May’s other kitten heels include flashes of leopard, and a patent red pair makes regular appearances alongside her red Amanda Wakeley suit and many of her navy workwear sets. Another chic number is the black kitten heels with detailed neon embroidery from the Issa x LK Bennett collaboration. This is another pair that is hard to source- I’m always on the lookout!

Why might Theresa May love her kitten heels? Less painful than a higher shoe, a 2-3 inch heel is the perfect height for May, and they provide the right amount of lift and comfort for a politician who never stands still. Westminster’s hallowed halls (and floors) can prove deadly for tender tootsies – so much so that I used to carry a pair of flats with me when I worked in Parliament. Cobbles and heels are not a good mix!

In recent years, the kitten heel seemed to have been replaced by the higher platform shoe, creating a new trend for women to invest in. May’s love of the kitten heel shoes that she won’t abandon something that works well for her, and how she won’t get on board with the latest trend of the moment.

Her reasoning is sound, and many retailers have reported higher sales of lower shoes since she took office in July 2016.

Berlin and Brexit: Theresa May's week

It's been a busy week for the PM. From Remembrance Sunday to Berlin, here's what Theresa May has been up too.

On Sunday, the PM laid a wreath at the Cenotaph in Whitehall as part of the annual Remembrance Sunday commemorations.

On Monday, the PM opened the new HQ for Diabetes UK. Not seen since her announcement for Conservative Party leader, Theresa May wore the uber cool Blackwatch plaid pantsuit by Vivienne Westwood. She opted for a pair of black patent brogues with jewelled heel detail by Russell & Bromley.



On Monday night, May delivered the keynote speech at the Lord Mayor's Banquet at Guildhall. Wearing a long silk red gown, patent red heels and the Valorie silver lame clutch from Anya Hindmarch's S/S11 collection, this was May's glammest look by far.

Also this week, the PM met with the UN Sec General designate António Guterres. For their meeting at Downing Street she rocked a red jacket and the Issa x LK Bennett embroidered Parrot pumps. May also met with the Portuguese Prime Minister on Wednesday, wearing classic tailoring from Amanda Wakeley and the leopard Cocktail pumps from Russell & Bromley.

On Friday, the PM travelled to Berlin to take part in talks with other nations. May also held a joint press conference with Chancellor Merkel. A navy dress by Amanda Wakeley, the Edelle jacket from LK Bennett, Radford black shoulder bag from Amanda Wakeley and patent red kitten heels completed her look.
