Theresa May's Week: Marking D Day 75 and President Trump's Visit

8.6.19

The Prime Minister was in Portsmouth and Normandy this week to mark the 75th Anniversary of the D Day Landings. Here's a recap of her week.

On Monday, the Prime Minister welcomed President Trump to London on the first day of his state visit. Meeting at Buckingham Palace for the state dinner, May wore a black evening gown by Amanda Wakeley. We last saw this in 2016 - and with a back zip and intricate cut out detailing it is certainly a stand-out piece! The PM teamed it with a gold clutch bag and red suede heels.

On Tuesday, May hosted President Trump at Number 10. The President and Prime Minister attended a roundtable with business leaders before holding a joint press conference. Following this they visited the Churchill War Rooms.  May wore her bright blue Orchid skirt suit from Daniel Blake, the Amanda Wakeley oversized silver chain necklace and bracelet and the Rosebud kitten heels from Russell & Bromley.

Later in the evening May attended a black tie dinner at the American Ambassador's Residence.

And on Wednesday, May travelled to Portsmouth for the first part of the D Day 75 commemorations. May wore a white shift dress and a new piece by Daniel Blake - the Notch Collar Coat, in Wool Herringbone, Angelica Green. She debuted a new fascinator from Liz Felix and accessorised with a pair of snakeskin kitten heels.

Waving off the veterans as they sailed to Normandy, May wore another new Blake creation - a baby blue pantsuit. We love it!

On Thursday the PM remained in Normandy, laying the cornerstone of the British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer. She also visited the Bayeux Cemetery, participating in a memorial service and meeting veterans. May wore an ivory and white Amanda Wakeley linen dress and jacket, and the ivory Rosebud kitten heels from Russell & Bromley. She wore another hat by Liz Felix.
