What's your history with Ballston and DC?
I live in the Ballston area of Arlington, VA. My husband and I moved here almost a year ago after he made the transition out of the Army. Converting to civilian life was definitely a challenge but was made much easier by the great area we now call home. I love that I can have the peace and quiet of the suburban life but am a 15 min car ride for the sights and sounds of Washington, DC!
Discovering Ballston - what are your favourite places to shop/eat/ go with friends/people watch?
On a journey to get to know our area, we came across a great restaurant that we love called Uncle Julio's Rio Grande Cafe. Julio's has amazing Mexican food that will keep you dreaming of it for days and not to mention their in house tortilla making machine, that has kids and grown ups alike marveling at its inner workings. I'm a big diva on a dime kinda girl, so I love shopping at the Seven Corners shopping center close by my place. Target, Burlington Coat factory and Goodwill expect my visits on a regular weekend basis ;) For people watching, you can't go wrong with Clarendon. Clarendon is a bustling, hip area that has a great selection of bars, restaurants and gelato shops to choose from. Go grab a sea salt caramel gelato at Paciugo Gelato and Caffe, find a bench and let the people watching begin!
Perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon in Ballston?
My perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon (after shopping at Target and gelato fix) is to head to Shirlington Dog Park with my handsome puggle Bradford. It's a great park where mommy and pup get to enjoy the outdoors!
I love the Arlington, VA area and am so grateful that we found such a fun, diverse place to call home!
