The Perfect Christmas Read

This marvelous book was brought to my attention by one of our readers, Rebecca! Entitled 'Christmas at the White House,' the publication written by Jennifer B. Pickens details the traditions and spectacle of a White House Christmas.

With contributions from Letitia Baldrige, Lynda Johnson Robb, Betty Ford, Rosalynn Carter, Nancy Regan, Barbara Bush, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Laura Bush, this book is perfect for the holiday season.

Priced at $75, it is available from the link here: http://www.fifeanddrumpress.com/buy_the_book.php

Sad news today as I hear that Teresa Heinz, and individual who is a great inspiration for me, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. We wish her a speedy and healthy recovery, and both her and her family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Teresa spoke to the AP about mammograms and the current controversy over what age a woman should be screened:

Senator Feinstein's Sophisticated Scarf

12.12.09

Amid the talk of the war in Afghanistan and healthcare on State of the Union last Sunday, my eye was drawn to the scarf draped around Senator Feinstein's neck. I immediately recognized the pattern as the stained glass West Rose Window of Washington National Cathedral, the intricate details and eye-catching colors making this scarf a truly special accessory.
