Michelle Obama Moodboard: The Miriam Haskell Archive
Michelle Obama continues to positively influence us here at Political Style, particularly in her selection of fabulous original costume jewellery. Many of her recent pieces are by the legendary designer Miriam Haskell, all of which are particularly striking.
Haskell began designing costume jewellery in the 1920s, alongside her friend and colleague Coco Chanel, with individuals including the Duchess of Windsor, Lucille Ball, Joan Crawford, Suzy Parker and Madeleine Albright amongst those who have fallen in love with Haskell's designs. Each piece is handcrafted in Haskell's New York studio, where vintage filigree backings from the 1940s, 50s and 60s are incorporated into the stunning designs.
Michelle Obama adorned several of Haskell's pieces in 2011, including a magnificent jewelled bronze cuff bracelet (above) at the Women of Courage Ceremony on March 8th.
The First Lady wore this elegant jewelled chandelier earrings during the State Visit to El Salvador on March 22nd.
Mrs O turned again to Haskell for an interview on the Today Show on February 9th, with these multi beaded earrings adorning her ears.
Miriam Haskell is one of our featured designers for 2012, so watch out for more posts about her gorgeous creations!

Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Jewelry at the JFK Library and Museum
Who says you can't be like a First Lady with some of these exclusive pieces from the Jacqueline Kennedy Jewellery collection, available at the JFK Library & Museum.
From Jackie's Starburst Pin to the classic string of 3 pearls, you can get a piece of Kennedy history right here!
The pieces are reproduced to the highest detail, and owning several items I can vouch for their quality. I picked up a pair of inter-changable pearl earrings (cream and black) with crystal, elaborate flower motifs. They are gorgeous, and it truly makes you feel special to know you are wearing a piece of history.
My other favourites include the blue enamel bangle bracelet, and the Greek coin pin. Check the entire collection out today, and glamourise your wardrobe as we enter 2012.
