The Inauguration Series
For the journey to Washington, Mrs O wore a tailored purple jacket and cashmere rollneck top by Zero + Maria Cornejo, paired with fitted black pants and black suede boots. Collecting the Bidens in Delaware, Mrs O selected a black wool swing coat with cropped bell sleeves and an exaggerated collar by Sonia Rykiel.
At the Kids Inaugural Concert Mrs O once again dazzled the crowd in a chic J Crew ensemble. Selecting a silver-blue metallic lace shell paired with a blue wool pencil skirt, olive cardigan and an Erickson Beamon Techno Deco belt, Mrs O wowed the crowds.
At the We Are One concert at the Lincoln Memorial earlier in the day, the First Lady wore a tailored camel and black ensemble from Narciso Rodriguez. A sparkling beaded black top, knee length wool skirt and a defining black belt made her look impeccable.
At a volunteering event, accompanied by Dr Biden in an equally stylish outfit, Mrs O wore gray trousers, a lilac top and gray overcoat.
Inauguration Day. Like millions of others, I was glued to the television set. Appearing as if almost in a dream, Mrs O shone in a bright lemongrass suit designed by Isabel Toledo. Consisting of a dress and co-ordinating coat, both of which almost had a shimmering effect, a Nina Ricci cardigan was sandwiched in between. The optimistic color, along with J Crew lime gloves, Jimmy Choo Glacier pumps and a antique Victorian rhinestone sash pin from the Carole Tanenbaum Vintage Collection paved the way for the fashion era and change that was about to come.
As day gave way into night, we eagerly awaited to see the First Lady's inaugural ball gown. Dazzling in an ivory chiffon, one-shouldered gown embellished with crystals and organza flowers, speculation gave way into awe. The gown, designed by Jason Wu, was complemented by custom designed jewelry by Loree Rodkin. 61 carat diamond earrings, a 13 carat Michelle signet ring and a set of white gold 13 carat bangles provided that touch of First Lady glamor.
